From death to life! 10 lessons from Lazarus

The resurrection of Lazarus is in John’s Gospel the 7th sign, Jesus’s miracle. It shows the power of Jesus over death.

1 – The time of God is no tour time.

“So after learning that Lazarus was ill, he remained for two more days in the place where he was.” (John 11:6)

God acts according to heaven´s chronogram and not according to our convictions, have no doubts that He will bring the best to happen in His time.

2 – God’s delay does not mean God’s denial.

“For everything there is a season,   and a time[ for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)A delay from God in our projects is a “not yet” and not a “no”.

3 – All that God allows has a reason or a purpose.

«This illness is not to end in death. Rather, it is for God’s glory, so that by means of it the Son of Man may be glorified». (John 11:4)

Even when I don’t understand everything, I can continue to believe that “all things work together for good for those who love him[a] and who are called according to his purpose”. (Romans 8:28)

4 – The bigger the problem, the greatest the miracle.

In John 11:3-14, we see the worsening situation of Lazarus and the evolution of his sickness towards death, but Jesus is bigger than everything that worsens in our lives, and the bigger your problem is, even bigger will be the miracle.

5 – Jesus cries with you. “Jesus began to weep.” (John 11:35)

Jesus cries not because He can’t do more for Lazarus, but because He relates towards our pain and sympathizes with us.

6 – Remove the rock and Jesus performs the miracle. “Take away the stone.” (John 11:39)

God performs the impossible when you do the possible.

7 – Death is not the end to the Son of God.

«This illness is not to end in death. Rather, it is for God’s glory, so that by means of it the Son of Man may be glorified». (John 11:4)

The history of Lazarus resurrection begins with sadness and pain, and shows that we don’t always have good beginnings, but its path won’t end on death, but in the Glory of Lord Jesus.

8 – Don’t stand in the tomb after hearing Jesus’s voice.

“He cried out in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” (John 11:43)

Jesus calls by your name to make you leave places of death and sin.

9 – Jesus’s friends walk free. Untie him and let him go free.” (John 11:44) Therefore, if the Son sets you free, you then will truly be free. (John 8:36). Christ had already set us free, and we can decide if we remain free or not.

10 – O The unexpected can happen at any moment. Believe!

“Lord, by now there will be a stench, for he has been dead for four days.” (John 11:39)

No one expected that Jesus could do anything more in that moment, Marta believed that Jesus could heal, but could not imagine what He was about to do. Jesus wants to surprise us with miracles and wonders in our lives. Believe!

In truth, Jesus loves you more than you imagine. Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to awaken him.” (John 11:11). He wants to make you pass from death to life! Supporting you in the “signal” of Lazarus resurrection, walk that path yourself.
